Course Description: This informative two-day workshop gives instructors the tools to create dynamic, user-friendly, fitness-oriented yoga classes. The learning includes correct physical execution, transitions and modifications to yoga poses, sequencing, class formats, effective ways to communicate the mind/body connection, and methods of developing safe teaching skills for 40+ poses. Level 1 is designed for beginners teaching yoga, practicing yoga, and learning yoga. For experienced Yoga instructors, this workshop is designed to offer new skills to teach Yoga classes in the mainstream health club or gym environment, focusing on the physical fitness benefits of traditional yoga poses. No prerequisites, only the desire to learn and commitment to attend.
The tuition includes hands-on training, a high-quality yoga mat (first-time participants only), and a 90-page manual with poses and class formats and music recommendations.
YogaFit requires every Level 1 Trainee to donate 8 hours of practice teaching in a community service setting, bringing the gift of yoga to individuals who would not be able to access it on a regular basis. Participants in the YogaFit Community Service program have taught to seniors, children, teens at risk, cancer survivors, HIV patients, handicapped persons, incarcerated individuals and stressed out corporate executives. YogaFit has trained thousands of people worldwide. Students will receive a "Certificate of Completion" which qualifies one to teach YogaFit style classes once Community Service is complete. Highly recommended books/materials: Beth Shaw's YogaFit book.
