For many of us, a new year symbolizes a new beginning. But before you ditch your 2024 routine and turn the page, consider what you’ve already been doing. Have you logged more miles, lifted heavier weights, or given yourself a break building in more recovery days to your routine? Whether or not you’re happy with the way 2024 went, ask yourself, what do you want 2025 to look like?
The Alaska Club offers many ways for members to thrive including dozens of group fitness classes, strength training equipment, personal training, pools, court sports, family activities, wellness and recovery services, and more. This year, we encourage you to try something new. Here are some ideas to inspire you:
Use a machine you’ve never used before.
Do you always choose a treadmill for cardio? How about trying an elliptical, incline trainer, or a bike? Try exploring the cardio room to change how you get your heart pumping.
If you’re more into the weightroom, consider trying one of our ExpressWay circuits to work all your muscles in about 30 minutes, or one of our Booty Builder machines designed to work your lower half.
If you’re not sure how to use a piece of equipment at the club, don’t hesitate to ask one of our personal trainers or staff members to help. Most of our equipment also has QR codes so you can scan the sticker with your phone and see a video or other information on how to use it.
Try a new Group Fitness class.
Group Power, Group Blast, Hot Barre, we all have our favorites. But did you know that the club offers dozens of different classes across the network? Looking for a cardio challenge? Try a Tread & Shred class using Sound Off headphones with motivating music. The class format is coached interval training in the cardio room using treadmills, bikes, or ellipticals.
Other cross-training options to try include Team Training, a group class that takes place on the turf focusing on functional training and coached by a personal trainer, Centergy which includes moves from yoga and Pilates to improve balance, mobility, and flexibility, and Pilates on the Ball which uses a stability ball for a complete body workout and toning session. Our clubs with pools also offer aquafit classes including H2O Cardio focusing on cardiovascular conditioning with strength moves. Group classes offer more than just a workout; they’re fun and motivating sessions with a community vibe. Explore the group fitness schedule at https://www.thealaskaclub.com/schedules.
Want to try a class that’s not offered at your go-to club? Gold Members have access to several locations, including the Studio Hot Yoga. Contact Membership or Member Accounting for details.
Consider working with a personal trainer.
Sometimes you need encouragement, you’ve hit a workout plateau, or you just need guidance on how to take your fitness to the next level. That’s where a personal trainer can help. Individualized instruction from one of our certified personal trainers will teach you proper form and techniques to maximize your workout. Our trainers will meet with you to design a plan based on your individual needs and goals giving you a greater chance of success no matter what you hope to achieve – fat
loss, muscle gain, mobility, bone-strengthening, injury rehab, and more. The club has a dedicated staff of certified trainers who are here to help.
Treat yourself to more wellness & recovery services.
Make 2025 the year you finally take time for yourself! Take the extra 10 minutes after your workout to unwind in a sauna or steam room. Book a relaxing massage, gain benefits of salt & red-light therapy from the Vitality Booth, or give your dry, winter skin a boost with a HydraFacial. The Alaska Club has an extensive menu of wellness and recovery services to help you reduce stress, feel rejuvenated, and incorporate those all-important rest days into your overall fitness and wellness routine.
